Hello,
I want to use a static page so that I can edit it to my liking with shortcodes, however, I’d also like to show my most recent posts to show below. I know there are special shortcodes for popular, recent, random and even custom latest posts, but the styling is quite different from the default non-static front page or category page. I want my homepage to be a layer slider, then my shortcodes, then my recent articles but styled how they are in the category pages. Is this possible?
In other words, is it possible to put shortcodes and a slider on a specific category page or on the default non-static front page?
I attached a picture of what I would like the recent articles to look like.

Hi Taylor,
I’m afraid the only way to get that exact style of displaying a category can be done on these category pages. You can’t add custom text/html on top of those pages.
Do note that sliders can be added to category pages at appearance-> mikmag-> categories
In here you can also choose to have sidebars on your category pages where you can add custom widgets or texts (using text widgets).

I was looking to do the exact same thing with mine. The best I’ve gotten is the “Latest posts” shortcode. If you designers do create some way in the near future to make the styling as it is with the category pages, please let us know. It looks really cool on the category page and displays the share buttons (that I added a plugin), but not so much when it’s condensed. Plus any share buttons do not appear in that condensed version with the latest posts short code.
