Hi, I downloaded MkiMag theme today (11/14/2013) from Themeforest.net. The details say the current release of the theme supports WooCommerce 2.0, BB Press 2.3.2 and Buddypress 1.7.2
However, as of today, the only available downloads for these 3 scripts are as follows. WooCommerce 2.0.19 BB Press 2.4.1 and Buddypress 1.8.1 (some do not have an archive available)
My question is, will these newer versions of these 3 scripts work with the theme download currently available on Themeforest.net?
Also, may I suggest that you include the current/working version of these scripts in your down load package. This way everything works at the time you release it….then leave it up to the consumer to update the scripts if they chose.
Thanks,

Hi Marc,
Our demo website (http://www.theme-dutch.com/presents/mikmag/ is currently running on Woocommerce 2.0.13, bbpress 2.3.2 and buddypress 1.8.1
On these versions everything seems to be working fine but I must say we have not thoroughly tested it all yet, which is why we have stuck with advertising these a bit older versions as compatible, for now.
Basically, It could very well all work properly, we are just not guaranteeing it on these versions as we haven’t done a proper compatibility test yet.
I do like the idea of adding the compatible versions of the plugin to the theme download. I’m not entirely sure how much of that is posssible from a licensing point of view, that’s not quite my area of expertise, but I will definitely pass on the suggestion.
Kind regards,
Kevin

Kevin,
Unlike most people, I am NOT a fan of upgrading. While I understand growth is good and the necessity of security updates, in my experience, EVERY time I upgrade anything on the web, undoubtedly something always breaks. I’m a firm believer in sticking to what works. And to upgrade only once the results are proven.
Regarding the updated plugin versions – I would have used the tested versions of the plugins, but they are no longer available for download. Only the updated versions are available, so I have no choice but to use what is available for download. As a NEW purchaser I never had the chance of “getting everything together” when all was current. That’s why I recommended including the tested version of the plugin in the download package. All of the plugins you use are free. Your not selling or modifying the actual plugin, so I don’t see a problem.
Patiently waiting for the dummy content files.
