Good day
I was hoping for some assistance regarding the UM-Switcher plugin. The site I’m currently working on uses a process by which clients select the membership they want, pay for it via WooCommerce and once payment is completed, they get a link to create their profile via UM.
Other than UM, WooCommerce and UM-Switcher I’m also making use of the WooCommerce plugin from UM. As a result once the user has signed up their purchase is linked to their UM profile and viewable in the purchases tab.
The issue I’m currently having is that UM-Switcher does not seem to pick up on this purchase as the WooCommerce extension does given that no subscription is active in the Subscriptions under UM-Switcher.
Can anyone perhaps provide some clarity on how I can get UM-Switcher to pickup on this active subscription as the Manual states that this is possible but sadly does not provide any specific details regarding how to make this happen.
Thank you for your time. Have a great day further.

Hi InsiteLabs,
Deactivate first the other extensions and make a purchase of a um-switcher product.
Is the order set to completed?
Is the user role changed?Mike

Hi Mike
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. So I followed your instruction by first deactivating any other plugins and then trying the process again without any success. I then went and deactivated and removed all the plugins including WooCommerce, Ultimate Member and UM-Switcher and re-installing all the plugins fresh and simply activating WooCommerce, Ultimate Member and UM-Switcher and setting it up exactly as the Manual shows. This however still did not provide the required result. The order was set to complete and the user was set to whatever I chose the default role to be, both active and non-active worked, however the user is never placed in the list of users in the UM-Switcher -> Subscriptions list. The list remains empty. So time doesn’t count down they either remain active or inactive forever.
The process just to clarify is as follows. A user chooses the type of membership they want and they pay for it with the guest checkout that simply asks for Full name and email and then payment. The admin then based on checkout preference either sets the order to complete from pending or if payed for via credit card gets placed to complete automatically. Based on the membership they chose they get sent a specific email that provides them with that membership’s specific signup form created in UM. They fill in their details and the product they bought is linked to their profile, my guess is via the email they used and registered with. This link to the product is provided via the woocommerce plugin provided by UM (not currently active).
So I was just wondering and just to clarify as the Manual is a little vague regarding this. UM-Switcher is capable of making that link as well correct? That a non-member can make a guest purchase of a membership, create an account afterwards and have that subscription automatically linkup and start to count down on that membership? Am I correct in assuming this?
Once again thank you for your time and your assistance regarding this issue.

Hi InsiteLabs,
There is your issue: guest checkout…
A subscription needs a client account in order to work, so this why they don’t show up in your list. -

Hi Mike
Thanks for the information. So I’ve gone ahead and made a few changes to the site to accommodate for this new information. When the user now registers they appear in the list. However what I have done is made the default role inactive (Non-Active Member) and as soon as the user has payed they are moved to active (Active-Member).
The problem is that UM-Switcher does not apply this “switch” even when selected to do so in the UM-Switcher Product options under: Select User Roles -> Active & When Experiod (Expired) -> Inactive, the roles do not get applied properly.
Also since the user is now added to the subscriptions list they immediately get sent both reminder emails right after purchasing the subscription, despite the settings being set as follows:
Subscription expires: 31 December 2018.
First Reminder Email: 30 days before expiration.
Second Reminder Email: 15 days before expiration. Also the City and time is set in the WordPress Settings under General.
Any assistance regarding this issue will be greatly appreciated. Have a great day further.

Hi InsiteLabs,
Do you have any plugins installed that also can change a user role, for example woocommerce subscriptions or something like that?

Hi Mike
I do have Ultimate Member’s Woo-Commerce plug-in installed. However I was having this issue before I activated the plug-in. Also this plug-in does have an option to switch a user’s role after purchasing a particular product. So when I make use of that feature the user’s role does get switched successfully however UM-Switcher ignores it. So while the user is able to use the site as an active member in the subscription list on UM-Switcher they still appear as Non-Active. Then when I try and switch them again to active in the back-end the site ignores my changes.
I also make use of the Woo Custom Emails per product plug-in, which I had to modify to work with UM-Switcher. The Email tab did not show up when selecting the UM-Switcher Product option.
Hope this helps, please let me know if you require any other information from me. Take care.

Hi InsiteLabs,
Well if you are using two plugins with same functionality, yeah it’s a bit normal that issues will appear.
So before you continue make a decision witch plugin you are going for. If umswitcher, then delete all others and make sure your database is cleaned. (Sometimes plugins leave some code behind that can cause issues.)same here:
I also make use of the Woo Custom Emails per product plug-in, which I had to modify to work with UM-Switcher. The Email tab did not show up when selecting the UM-Switcher Product option. We cant and not always even possible to have tested all plugins out there to work with UM-switcher. So when you use a plugin that make use of the same functionality of UMS, you can get issues. But we can’t offer support on other plugins and custom jobs.
So make sure you have a default setup and if you still have issues with UMS, please let me know.
Mike
