I have just installed the new update for Mikmag. Unfortunately my home page now seems to have zoomed to 150% and I can longer access my pages. My sociables have disappeared on the top right hand corner too. I am on the child theme and when I go to appearance I can see the sociable icon on the list but nothing happens when I click on that or on anything else on the list. Do you have an idea of what I can do?

Jane,
G’Day.
Can you post the URL to your website to give the support staff and other members an idea as to what might be happening.
Thanks.Cheers,
Michael.

Hi Jane,
That really is quite strange, I don’t think I’ve seen that one before..
Could you please provide your envato purchase code to verify your purchase with us? Just add it to your Theme-dutch.com profile information by going to my account -> my profile. This way we’ll be able to verify your purchase as we only provide support to our verified clients.
To get you started though, here are two things I’d first like you to take a look at.
Let me start by asking you if you’ve got any plugins installed? Plugin incompatibilities do sometimes cause strange problems. You could check whether an incompatibility is the case for you by de-activating your plugins. If this causes the issue to disappear, re-activate them one by one to isolate the plugin causing your issue.
If this does not help, one other thing I’d like you to try is to download a fresh version of the theme from themeforest, remove the currently installed version and install that freshly downloaded version. It sometimes happen that files get corrupted in the down- and upload process, this should provide a check for that.

Hi Jane,
I’ve noticed your e-mail, please note we do only use the forums for support so the fastest way of getting support would be by replying on the forums.
Your envato badge has not yet been activated, which means the purchase code as it was inserted was not recognized.
To find your purchase code, log in to themeforest.com and go to your downloads page. There, look up mikmag and click the download button It will give you a few possibilities to choose form, one of them being the licence certificate and puchase code. Choose that one.
The purchase code will be in that file.
Kind regards,

Hello Kevin, I have downloaded my license certificate from Envato and when I go to the profile page I can no longer find where to put the code so it might have gone through. If not could you let me know where it needs to go? My web host has dis activated all the plug ins but it still doesn’t work so I sent him a new download to re install. That didn’t work either so we’ve had to go back to the older version as I need the website up and running.
Regards
Jane

Hi Jane,
When the code comes through properly it gets verified automatically and you will get a green leaf icon beneath your name on the forums (like Windycityfella who replied to this topic earlier).
Yours has not come through properly yet, what you want to do is go to my account -> My profile and once there, hit the “edit profile” button. This will open up all your input fields and you’ll be able to add the envato code down at the bottom somewhere.
As for your issue:
Could you specify what versions of Mikmag and wordpress are currently installed on speegra?Kind regards,

Hello Kevin, We have gone back to:
Mikmag 2
Wordpress 3.9.1However I have now seen that my sociables on the right hand side have no logos. When I click on the circles they take me to the link but the actual twitter LinkedIn logos ect have disappeared.

Hi Jane,
I see you managed to add your purchase code, thanks!
The mikmag2.0 theme is not compatible with wp3.9.1 so that may be causing some issues there, however if I properly recall you did use to have a newer version of the theme installed that also showed some trouble.
I will be out of office for a while starting next saturday (5th of July), but I would like to attempt solving the issue before that, if we don’t succeed, one of my colleagues will take over while I’m gone but it would be desirable to have it all solved before, right?
What I’d like to try, with your permission, is install a copy of Mikmag3.0 on your server and take a close look at what seems to be happening. Hopefully I’ll be able to figure out what’s happening if I have access to the site and server.
If you’d like me to give that a shot, I’d like to ask you to sent in a ticket using My account -> submit ticket.
In your ticket, please include the following information:
– website login URL
– Username and password of an administrator account for your website
– FTP hostname, username, password
– A link towards this topic (so I’ll know what it’s about). If you could send that in sometime soon, I’ll try to check it all out before the 5th of july. If you run into any issues while sending in your ticket, please reply here on the forums.
Kind regards,

Hi Jane,
I’ve looked around your website and FTP and found a few things that may be causing some issues:
First off, your wordpress installation is of version 3.8.3, if you’re updating to mikmag3.0 (latest), I’d suggest updating wordpress to 3.9.1 as well as that is the version we have developed it for. Also, be sure to download a fresh version of the theme to be certain it includes all the fixes.
Another thing that seems to be going on is that you have some custom code in the child-theme that you’re using that is conflicting with the new version of mikmag. This causes me to think the child theme would need to be revisited as well.
You seem to have some files in your child theme that have been copied from the old mikmag version and in the new version they have been altered, this causes a conflict as your child-theme overrides the files containing code required in the new theme version.
So in short, what I think is happening is that your child theme is overriding parts of the latest update that shouldn’t be overridden. Adding to that, if you are planning to update the theme, your best bet would be to update wordpress accordingly.
Kind regards,

Hi Jane,
I’m adding your response from the ticket to this topic, in order to keep everything in one place. I would like to stick to this topic for anything that is not private information (such as passwords).
Hello Kevin, I have forwarded your message below to my web host with his reply: "I’ve looked around your website and FTP and found a few things that may be causing some issues: First off, your wordpress installation is of version 3.8.3, if you’re updating to mikmag3.0 (latest), I’d suggest updating wordpress to 3.9.1 as well as that is the version we have developed it for. So in short, what I think is happening is that your child theme is overriding parts of the latest update that shouldn't be overridden. Adding to that, if you are planning to update the theme, your best bet would be to update wordpress accordingly. and here is his reply: "I can see why they have asked these questions, but they're looking at the site as it was before we did the update and making incorrect assumptions. The version of WordPress that you have now is an older one. That's because we restored a backup after the ThemeDutch upgrades didn't work. We had tried their new version of their theme with a totally updated WordPress and plug-ins. When we did the update, we did not use the child theme that we had used before. We used the fresh child theme that came with the updated theme." Could you let me know if what to do next? Regards Jane Henley
Thank you for the clarifications,
I’ve gone ahead and installed a copy of Mikmag3.0 with child theme to a test site of mine and I do not get any zoom on the page as you had described in your initial topic.
As your website was reverted to the older versions, I am unable to see what it would look like with these newer theme/wp versions. Without that it’s fairly hard to guess what’s going on, especially since I appear unable to recreate it on my testing pages.Would it be possible for you to install a new wordpress installation on a subfolder or sub-domain (so you can leave your live site untouched for now) on which you would install wp3.9.1, mikmag3.0 and its child theme? I hope that will help us figure out what may be happening on your site and make it less of a guessing game.
Kind regards,
Kevin
