The dummy data i got with the MikMag theme included a shortcode that displayed an individual post id rather than by category – but when i try this myself it does not work. it shows the same post every time regardless of which post ID i enter. The format I am using is:
[blogposts title=”Hotel Review” post=”?p=4974″ number=”1″ words=”25″ image=”medium”]
Any ideas why this is happening please?

Hi Gail,
I’ve been through the shortcodes for a bit and I don’t believe there’s a shortcode to get one specific post you want. I think the post you might be seeing all the time would be your very latest post, or the top post when sorted alphabetically. Is that correct?

Hi Kevin
Thanks for your response to this question. Yes it was latest post only and not the selected post according to the ID entered. OK I will have to abandon that approach. What I really desperately need now is for the carousel to display ONLY the category of posts I select – but there is a bug and it is showing ALL categories in the carousel. I understand this is a bug waiting for the new 3.5 version to come out to fix.
I am happy to hack the code if you can just tell me what code to change to make the carousel work and show just selected category / categories rather than all as this is now VERY URGENT.
Pleae can you help me with a code change suggestion?
regards

PS I also posted this question on the thread relating to the carousel ignoring categories entered and displaying all post…

Hi Gail,
I’m afraid that code-based support requests exceed what we can offer as free support. We’ve also been doing quite some recoding on the mikmag theme as well as its framework so getting back to that exact problem would be rather difficult at this point.

This is not code-based support that should require additional money. This is a feature of your theme which is not working, it’s broken, and it needs to be fixed. I can’t believe that no patch or workaround has been provided yet, to customers who paid for this broken theme.
The “we’re working on it” excuses are getting old, and should be unacceptable from a premium theme maker that’s charging for a product that doesn’t fully work as advertised. This needs to be fixed.
