Hi,
I’m almost there! Just one more styling thing. The excerpt that is displayed in the latest posts slider seems to take a character/letter count rather than a word count which is causing the words to break in the middle, so the post ends with an unfinished word. Where can I fix this?

What you can do to have closer control over what’s being displayed as an excerpt would be using the excerpt post option.
Click on screen options in the top right corner of your post editing page. Then check the checkbox for “excerpt” now scroll down the page and you can add a custom excerpt there, instead of the one taken from your post content.

Yes – I had tried that before but it turned out I had used too much text in the Excerpt box. It is working now and I’ve set the “word count” in the Latest Post slider to 190, which is really 190 characters, not words. Now trying to find a plugin that shows a character counter in the admin area.
