I would like to reduce the area for the Featured Image from 100% to 30% and float it right, but I don’t see where in the menus to do that, or do I need to edit the css directly?

Also, is the wood board background image included with the theme or is that copyrighted so I can’t use it on a commercial site? (and what did you do to get the shadow/fade effect?)
