Top right header advertising banner 468 x 60
Mikmag button for dashboard column menu item.
12/05/2013 at 2:31 PM #11608Drop Caps: more styling options in short codes will be nice. It will punch up a great style. A little Great Gatsby finesse works wonders for an upscale magazine look.
Here is a great article I read: http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2012/04/03/drop-caps-historical-use-and-current-best-practices/
13/05/2013 at 11:56 AM #11620James there used to be a top right advertising banner space that could be turned on or off and with the ability to add an image or ad network code (e.g. Google adsense) but that has disappeared from MikMag 2.00 for some reason. I am using it on my live site with MikMag 1.3.2 but unless I hack header.php I can not longer have an ad in the header and even then it would be fixed across the entire site - whereas now I have page by page control of the header banner.
I raised this issue last week in a separate thread but have had no feedback yet. Perhaps you can help press for this to be reinstated?
Thanks and regards

How is the code guru today? Your insight is very helpful.
What did you do to resurrect it?
Have a great day.

20/05/2013 at 11:24 AM #11710In my live site using 1.3.2 I did hack the header.php code to change the grid sizing in JUST the header so I could put a 928×70 banner there rather than just a 468×60 banner. I haven’t resurrected it in my MikMag 2.00 beta test code as I was waiting for a response from Theme-Dutch as to whether they will reinstate the ad area in the header or not and make it work the same as before e.g. a unique ad per page.
I think the new Theme-Dutch developer has changed the grids code which may be why this function has disappeared from the header area but as they have not responded to my separate thread bringing this to their attention.
If Theme-Dutch will not reinstate it, code can of course be added to the header.php but I would need to speak with a more techy colleague of mine to see if we can code it so that the ads are unique to each page (as per 1.3.2) or whether we will be stuck with one global banner for the whole site - which would be a retrograde step . New CSS grid changes may make a new code hack a bit more problematic.
As for me being a code guru - I think not - just your average html / css coder but thanks for the comment
