the theme only allow for a link to be added and the like buttons are all made up of multiple links and javascript. I tried a few plugins but couldnt get them to work and didn’t like the placement. I would like my “Like” button to be with the other sociables.

    Hi,

I’m afraid that the only functionality our sociable area gives is indeed, linking people to a social network.

Plugins might give you the ability to allow people to like pages or posts on your website, an overal likebutton in the sociable area is not a theme function.

I may just be stating the obvious here for any web designer but for the do-it-yourselfer I really like the options provided by sharethis(dot)com and by weebly(dot)com for this. They produce code with icons that line up perfectly so theres no fussing with padding or sizing .PSD files. They are highly customizable and they have bits that can hover over all of your pages or just be inserted into a single post. Moreover they provide robust analytics on how your media is being followed and shared.
