In the MikMag theme, whenever you go to add a new post there are Format options? Unless this is a WordPress feature that I have missed, I am not sure what these are or what they do? Do we have any documentation on these?

Here are the options I see:

Standard, Aside, Gallery, Link, Image, Quote, Status, Video, Audio, Chat.

    G’Day.

I haven’t got my access to the v2.0 Beta yet, anxiously waiting, but these are the standard WordPress Post Types that have always been available in v3.5 but each theme developer has to activate them when they create the theme. In WP v3.6, they will come standard.

    Whitt,

    G’Day again.

Here is the link detailing each of the Post Formats: http://codex.wordpress.org/Post_Formats

So, in effect, apart from the ‘out of the box’ format, you could set up specific styling for individual Post Formats in the style.css file to jazz-up your site

And I was a little off, they became available in WP v3.1 !

Attached is what it shows up looking like in the MikMag theme. I haven’t seen this in other themes that I’ve worked with.

    G’Day again.

Yes, that is how the Post Format’s do appear in WordPress v3.5 etc. By default, a Post uses the Standard format, and this isn’t shown if it is the only format activated by the theme developer. The others will appear if any/all are activated by the developer in the functions.php - as per my link above.

In WP v3.6, they will all be standard with the options appearing across the top above the Post options. So when a Post is created the author will have to decide what format it takes.

    Cheers,
