    Hi mate,

    Thanks for your help again….

Just to update you… There has never been a xml file with notice theme.

This is the read me file that came with the dummy content zip. it details 3 steps to follow in order to install the dummy content

NOTIME HOW TO INSTALL DUMMY CONTENT
    made by Theme-dutch.com
    ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

    STEP 1
Go to your Database Manager (like PHPMyAdmin), and import themedutch_notime_dump.sql, which is located in the dummy content.

    STEP 2
Upload the content of the dummy folder to your /wp-content/uploads/

    STEP 3
Go to your Dashboard and check the Settings > General, and place your own admin, emails, site url, etc…

Common issues: the above steps will not work if you install WordPress in a subdomain or subdirectory. You need to edit themedutch_notime_dump.sql and change the image path and other relative urls.

I am pleased to say that with the help of hostgator the sql has now been installed. (they did it) BUT this is what they said….

    “Hello there,

No problem at all! We’re happy to help you with this!

At this time, I have imported the database for you. Due to the way cPanel associates database names and username, I had to modify the name of the database to jeremy_notime so if any scripts rely upon the database name being themedutch_notime_dump or themedutch_notime, you may need to update them to use jeremy_notime instead:

[*] Database import of mysqldump file: ‘themedutch_notime_dump.sql’ to database: ‘jeremy_notime’ … Completed! No errors to report.

Please let us know if you experience any issues or have any other questions or concerns.

    Regards, ”

I had already completed step 2 so the via FTP but when i went to complete the final step… my site still looked the same. Is this because of the fact that there needs to be changes made to the scripts like it said in the email? If so how do I do that? Hostgator said they couldn’t help me beyond this point and advised that i go to the company who made the theme

finally just to clarify - should the end result be that my page looks similar to the demo site and only needs changing in terms of info and photos etc? I’m guessing, no hoping this is the case and is the purpose of the dummy content zip containing the sql and dummy content.

    From a humble beginner,

    Jeremiah1

    Hi Christian,

Is this the page from our demo website you are referring to? http://theme-dutch.com/presents/james/fs-portfolio-content/

If not, please do link me towards the one you meant. That way I’ll be able to give you some detailed instructions.

If this is the one, here’s how we made it.

This is created using a simple page. With content for the text that’s on top of the background slider. The slider itself was made using the background option in the page options.

-Scroll down the page a little bit until you hit James Page options. In there you’ll also find “Background”.

    - for the background type you want to choose “Gallery” You’ll now be able to set up your background gallery for the page

    - Select a time interval between your slides, choose a transition and add your images.

    - Last, save the page and you should have a working background gallery.

One more thing though. You’re using James2.0 on a WP3.8 installation. Do note that James is not yet ready and tested for wp3.8, you might experience some incompatibilities due to this while we are still developing the update.

    Kind regards,

    Kevin

Hi, I am running James 2.0 as new install on wordpress 3.8. I want to have a slideshow on home page as full screen background with a bit text on every slide over the image and a link to a dedicated page when cliking on the slide.

I tried to use the james page options - slider options but whatever I out in there is showing on the content block as slideshow and not on the background full screen.

What to do and how to create the above - since I saw the same in your demo and decided to purchase it due to that.

Appreciate your quick help and support.

    All the best,

    Chris

    Hi Kevin,

Not sure if I have seen it also on your demo page.
But it happens on my two websites on any page.

Unfortunately it is not something I can reproduce. It just happens sometimes. Very strange thing.

    I hope my answer helps.

    Regards,
    Chantal

    Hi Chantal,

Are you also having this same isue on our theme demo page?

And is there any page in particular you are having this issue on or is it on any page on the website (for example the homepage of puro..)

    Kind regards,

    Kevin

    Hi,

So it took me a while but I figured it out.

I have done a clean install of wordpress on a test page and found that i had the same issue. I went and took the small image as an example and recreated that. I then found that my woocommerce settings for [settings - > catalog ->image options - > single product image] were set up differently (300×300, hard crop).

I changed it to 9999×550 (demo settings) and it still was the same

    ____

up to here, that’s exactly what your installation is at

    ____

I then intalled the plugin “Regenerate thumbnails” by viper007bond (i believe it is at version2.2.4) and ran the plugin to regenerate my thumbnails. My too small image now regenerated properly to fit the right proportions.

Installing and running that plugin should help the dummy content images convert to the settings of your website as well. You’ll want to try that.

I have to assume I’m missing something. I keep getting an error that says “Failed to import media”. Has anyone that has purchased this theme had success importing the dummy content XML data file and had success with their site look like the demo site?

    Hi Marc,

Sorry, that was not intended to be insulting in any way, it just wouldn’t be the first time that “stating the obvious” would actually solve someone’s issue.

I have in fact tried installing the dummy content this way, prior to telling you it. It got me all the pages with the different shortcodes being used as shown on the demo site.

It does still require you to set up the back-end wordpress things like selecting the menu, and sidebars as those are things we can’t do through XML, as well as loading sliders.

We’re working to find a better way of providing dummy content. It’s something we’ve been doing since the very beginning. We’ve tried SQL imports, a button that would download and install dummy content from our servers and a lot of other things over time. We just sill haven’t found what appears to be the best way to handle this. For our next mikmag update we are planning to change quite some things again in terms of dummy content but that’s all not very close to release yet.

I understand how in this somewhat stripped down version it’s not particularly ideal as you do miss things like set-up sliders and widget areas. Our main aim for the dummy content in this case was to show how to use the shortcodes and with that set up pages like they exist on our demo site. It does do that.

If there is anything on our demo page though, that you are looking to recreate but have trouble doing so, you may of course feel free to link me to it so I can go check out how we did it.

    Kind regards

    Kevin

Also - Has anyone that has purchased this theme had success importing the dummy-content XML data file and had success with their site looking like a replica of the demo site?

This is the most money I spent for a theme, and honestly I feel “dupped” about the dummy-content. The dummy-content really helps me understand how the theme works. This is the 1st theme that advertises dummy-content, which doesn’t look like the demo.

Hi, your slider moves fluently between slides in the demo. Mine goes to black for a very long time before moving into the next slide. There is obviously something different in your demo slider settings & the demo upload dummy content. I just need to know what this is & how to make it work fluidly like the demo.

    Thanks!
