I installed the theme first, activated and installed all of the corresponding plugins, and then imported the dummy content file. The first time I installed the dummy content, it failed giving me this error:

Failed to import topic-tag multiply subscribtion plans
    Failed to import topic-tag sidebar
    Failed to import topic-tag themedutch

Second import attempt seemed to work. Here are the errors I saw during the import however.

    Hi Whitt,

It looks like you did not activate all the plugins first before installing dummy content. Because he can simple not find the post types.

Failed to import topic-tag multiply subscribtion plans:
You will no be able to unless you have Woocommerce subscribtions installed.

Why is your site so slow loading?

    #63063

Hi Mike, I had the plugin activated, but had not gone through the setup. I was also wondering about the site delay… as of right now I don’t have any of the cache services set up. That might have something to do with it, but the pages do take a little longer to load.

    #63064

Hey Mike, the slowness is due to an issue my website host is having, just fyi.

    Whitt and Mike,

    G’Day.

Whitt: I got many of those same errors when I first installed the Dummy Content - and I had just installed the ‘required’ Plugins. So I started again and made sure that I had also activated the two UserPro Plugins that came with the theme as well as the ‘required’ plugins. I still got a couple of errors and noticed that one referred to bbPress (as per one of yours above). So I did a third fresh installation and made sure that the ‘required’ plugins along with the two UserPro Plugins and the bbPress Plugin were all installed and active before importing the dummy content. And guess what - it all worked !

I placed a comment about this on the other thread in this forum.

Note that I did all the above on my localHost, using Desktop Server. I’m now trying to get the installation right on a ‘live’ host (HostGator) but am having trouble getting the Posts and Pages to be imported (Users and Media is fine). I’ve tried it on a sub-domain and a top level domain without any luck. I haven’t checked yet for any differences between the configurations of the localHost and the live host. For now I’m going to install it on another hosting service (BlueHost) and see what that generates.

    Have a great day.
    Cheers,

    Michael.

    Your the best Michael

    G’Day All.

    Mmmmm. that was interesting.

Have just installed Strada and all the dummy content on a domain at BlueHost without any issues.
    The URL is: http://supamacmedia.com

So, it would appear that the issue with my inital ‘live’ installations on HostGator was in regard to the version of PhP that was being served.
Both BlueHost and my localServer (Desktop Server) were serving PhP ver 5.4, while HostGator was serving version 5.2 !

So maybe a note re the PhP version should be included in the documentation when the theme is sent live.

    Cheers,

    Michael.

ps. Have now got HostGator to update my PhP version.

    Hi Michael,

We did not included the requirements because it’s a wordpress requirement: http://wordpress.org/about/requirements/

To run WordPress your host just needs a couple of things:

    PHP version 5.2.4 or greater
    MySQL version 5.0 or greater

    http://wordpress.org/about/requirements/

But you have a point and will include some info about this subject into our manual.

And regards to HostGator, It kinda depends what kind of hosting package you have. We have our own dedicated server and If I don’t tell my guys to update our server, it will not happen until all hell breaks lose. But on the other-hand, if you have a normal hosting package I think HostGator should update there servers without asking.

Thanks for the update, will have a look at your site now.

    #63074

Michael, may I ask what kind of server this is?

    #63075

    Mike,

    G’Day again.

    Mmm. I’m assuming it’s a Linux server. Why ?
It’s on my Reseller Account but using Shared Hosting.

And also, when I look at the front/home page in Chrome I don’t see the background images for the “Subscribe and Start Posting” and “It’s Your Serve” sections. Yet I see them in IE9 and Firefox ! Strange ! And the same situation happens, missing background images, when I view the website created on my localHost. Very strange !

    Cheers,

    Michael.

    Hi Michael,

Well I found it a bit slow loading, but maybe I’m just to eager for speed. But what do you think of the loading of our websites in general over-there over seas? I’m still thinking to get a server in the USA for speed issues, I have no idea how our sites are loading overseas. I don’t get much in the USA anymore since we started this business…

For example the speed of Themeforest is magnificent for us in The Netherlands.

    This is our server setup.

    Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E31220 @ 3.10GHz
    8GB
    SSD Harddisk

Yeah we have to do some chrome fixing to, sometimes it freeks me out the difference between ff, ie chrome grrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!
Our work flow is always start in FF on Imacs, and from there we take the other devices etc, this way in development phase my guys and myself see the same.

Where still improving, for example I made the menu a bit different as you can see: http://theme-dutch.com/presents/strada

And there is a Home menu animation with a on/off feature.

    Mike,

    G’Day again.

The Theme-Dutch main site does load a bit slow for me, but that maybe because of the homepage video having to load. And I go straight to the Support Forum section anyway.

I don’t know where the Envato server is located, but I do know that they come from my home town of Melbourne, Australia. So a big shoutout to them !

If you are looking to locate to a server in the USA, I would suggest that you check out Site 5 (http://site5.com) who have a number of servers located throughout the USA. They are dedicated to WordPress sites. I have two separate client sites with them and they have been great. I only use BlueHost as that was where I started my Reseller account and their value for money is probably better than most others.

    Cheers,

    Michael.
