08/10/2013 at 9:16 AM #12874Hi Charlie,
Could you be a little more specific on what you mean. I see you refer to our demo site do you mean on the homepage? I’m having some trouble understanding what part of the page you mean. Perhaps you could add a screenshot.
With kind regards,
Kevin
08/10/2013 at 2:43 PM #12877On the demo site it looks like this: You have an image, then some text, then a map straight across in a landscape orientation
My widget only puts them in a portrait orientation like this image
09/10/2013 at 8:54 AM #12882Hi Charlie,
I found what you mean, thank you.
Here is how we’ve set up our widget area for the champi SlidePanel. We have only used one widget in the entire panel. That widget is a text widget. The text widget will then take the full width of the champi slidepanel. From there, we added column shortcodes to our text widget, as well as google maps embed codes etc to create the layout we currently have.
I have added a screenshot that shows you how our text widget was set up.
I hope this helps
With kind regards,
Kevin
11/10/2013 at 6:07 PM #12893I really want this theme to work for me, but I feel like your demo site was a bit of bait and switch. First, it doesn’t work with the most current version of WordPress, and nowI have to be able to custom code the widget ares to make it look like your demo site. What’s up with that? Is there anything else that I need to know that is different from you demo site.
12/10/2013 at 9:12 AM #12899Hi Charlie,
I can see how the theme’s compatibility with the latest versions of wordpress is an issue and really all I can say about that is that we try hard to keep our themes up to date. It’s just that with a fairly small team like we have and our quite feature-rich themes this is an immense job and because of that is difficult to keep up.
As for this widget area, we intentionally try not to tie our customers to any type of layout for our pages or widgets. We like to give people as much freedom as possible in deciding whether they want sidebars on every page and if these sidebars must all show the same thing or not, this same thing also applies to our sliders. In this spirit we also do not want to tie people to having a slidepanel with only one possible styling and a map in it. A lot of people would not want a map in their slidepanel but see a different use for the panel entirely.
We offer the possibility of having this panel, and then the layout would basically work just like laying out a page or post. You can choose to add shortcodes like columns, add headings etc. and with that, create the look you desire to have. If you were looking for something exactly like the demo, you can use the code snippet I added to the last post to serve as an example.
I hope this helps you understand our reasoning behind the theme’s functions.
With kind regards,
Kevin
