Is there a way to use a widget in the main page area? Meaning, not in a sidebar? I would like to use the Google Calendar widget to display my google calendar on a full page. However the only way to specify specific settings for an individual calendar is through the widget area (on a sidebar). If I simply enter the code to display the plugin on the main page, it will only display based upon the general “settings”.
Example: General settings will display current month calendar only.
Sidebar Widget Settings: Allows me to specify multiple months, colors, dates, etc….
I’d like to be able to use the full benefits of the sidebar widget settings, but I want the widget to be in the main page area - not in a sidebar. I.e. - create a “sidebar” that displays full page width on a page. Is there any way to do this?

The only widget area’s we’ve got in this theme do feature in a sidebar or footer. I’m afraid the only way would be by adding a widget area in the code. Perhaps there are plugins that would generate a widget area for you on any place you insert a certain code. I’m not sure, I’ve never used one but I would guess that it’s a plugin that could very well exist.

16/02/2013 at 12:46 PM #10738Thanks! I did a search and decided to try out Widgetize Pages Light:
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/widgetize-pages-light/
It worked perfectly!!! I can now add as many widget areas as I want to anywhere on the page and customize them for each page the same way I can on the sidebars
This one works with the Freeze Theme - yay!16/02/2013 at 3:38 PM #10739Dacia.
Great get !
Will keep this plugin in mind for future.
Cheers,
