I am having trouble setting the static homepage for the site - I have created a page called “Blog” and set it as the posts page, but the homepage is not listed in the options on the dropdown list for the static front page.
How can I fix this?

The notime theme uses categories for its blog pages.
Also, you will fiund that you cannot select the post page to be the same thing as the front page (in wordpress settings).
I hope these two things will help clarify.

I know how to set a static page in WP - in Settings > Reading there is an option “Front page displays” with radio buttons. You can choose to either show your latest posts, or a static page. If you choose the static page option, there is a dropdown list of the pages on the site and you can set whichever one you want as your posts page and choose a different one for the static home page.
In this case there will be no blog on the site, so we just wanted to set a static home page. What I usually do in this kind of case is to create a page called “Blog” and set that as the posts page, and then the default homepage becomes the static page. That does not seem to be working in this case.
I could create a page called “Home” and select that as the static page, but I would like the homepage to have the URL as www.domain.com, and not http://www.domain.com/home/
When you say the theme uses categories for the pages, can you explain more fully? I do not see any options in the dashboard for categories for pages, only for posts.

So what I went and did on my test page is to make a page, set it as my static front page and then another one as my posts page.
My homepage turned out to be the one I selected as the static front page.
If I understand it properly, this is what you are trying to achieve as well but what is not happening for you. Would that be correct?
Something I might not be understanding properly is this: It sounds like you wish to not have any type of blog on your website. Yet, you do select a page to be your posts page. Wouldn’t that be creating a page that would be used as a blog? Would it not be better to not select any page in the dropdown box for posts page in order to have no page become a blog?
I must say I haven’t really worked with this post-page function before as I always set up my blogs by filling up categories with posts and adding those to my menu so I’m just trying to understand how your trick here works.
